RIMC exam or Rashtriya Indian Military College Exam is an Entrance Examination which is conducted semi – annually. RIMC or Rashtriya Indian Military College is an Institution that comes under Category A establishment of the Indian Defense. The examination is held with a view to train Indian boys into for entry to the Defence Services. Interested applicants are always invited by the Institution. The admission is restricted to boys only. The admission will be done for class VIII only.

One vacancy for per state is reserved for applicants. States with huge population like Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, UP, Bihar, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal have 2 vacancies. In case, if a candidate does not join RIMC, reserve applicant will join.
Admissions are made to class VII (equivalent to class VIII) only. The candidates should be studying in class VII in a recognized school at the time of admission to the RIMC. They should also be medically fit for entry to the College, in accordance with the MEDICAL STANDARDS PRESCRIBED.
For admission into the College, candidates are selected on the basis of their performance in an All-India Examination held twice a year. The general standard of questions in the entrance examination is of class VII.
A: Written Examination:

Candidates can appear for the Mathematics test in Hindi or English Medium. General Knowledge can be answered in English, Hindi or any one of the regional languages. To qualify, a candidate must obtain a minimum of 50 % Marks in each subject.
B: Oral (Viva Voce)
The oral examination consists of a Viva Voce test of 50 marks, which is designed to assess a candidate’s intelligence, personality and confidence.

QUALIFICATION: Admissions are made to class I (equivalent to class VIII) only. The candidates should be studying minimum in class VII in a recognized school at the time of admission to the RIMC. They should also be medically fit for entry to the College, in accordance with the medical standards prescribed.

Maths and General knowledge Papers may be answered either in Hindi and in English. To qualify, a candidate must obtain a minimum of 50 % Marks in each subject.
Medical Examination:- All the candidates qualified after the interview will undergo a medical examination at selected Military Hospital and only those Candidate found Medically fit will be considered for selection and admission to the RIMC. Medical Examination of the Candidate forms only a part of the System of selection and does not imply the Final Selection.
Various State Government grants scholarships. The amount of scholarships varies from state to state and is in between Rs. 10,000/- to Rs. 20000/- per annum (APPROX.) depending upon the merit list.
